Comfama is a family compensation fund in Antioquia, Colombia, that promotes the well-being and social development of its members through services in employment, education, health, housing, and recreation. With a focus on equity and access to opportunities, it connects local talent with companies, promotes continuous learning, offers housing subsidies, and fosters culture and social tourism, establishing itself as a key player in the region’s economic and social development.

The challenge

How can we improve the autonomy of young women in the Aburrá Valley Metropolitan Area (AMVA) to contribute to increased employability?

We created a model that promotes the autonomy and employability of young women in AMVA by integrating care networks and alternating work schedules.

Proposed Methodology
A sprint methodology was applied, incorporating desk research, ethnographic interviews, and expert consultations to design inclusive solutions based on data and qualitative analysis.

Key Insight/Learning
Time is a crucial factor in enabling women's productivity, as they manage caregiving responsibilities within family and community networks. It is essential to create alternating systems that balance their caregiving roles with their professional and personal development.

Impact/Outcome
The goal is to partially integrate into the workforce women who have been traditionally excluded from formal employment, fostering their autonomy and increasing female employment rates at a national level.
